Facebook, being a huge website, adopts certain methods to cut down on the server load. One of them is that it reduces the size of the videos and photos by compressing them. And that’s where the trouble starts. If you record videos in the normal mode, Facebook compresses them and that makes the video quality quite bad.
Enable HD Video Recording for Facebook on iPhone
There’s a workaround to this. Even though Facebook will still continue to compress the videos you capture and upload, you can make sure the videos are at least of good quality Of HD quality. In this short tutorial, we’ll see how you can make sure Facebook App only records HD videos on your iPhone or iPad all the time. Here we go: Step #1. Open Settings app on your iDevice → Tap on Facebook. Step #2. Under Video, switch ON Upload HD. You do the same thing from the Facebook app as well.
Enable HD Upload from the Facebook App
Step #1. Tap on More button located at bottom right corner → Tap on Settings & Privacy. Step #2. Tap on Settings then tap on Videos & Photos. Step #3. Turn on Switch next to Upload HD under VIDEO SETTINGS. That’s it. Henceforth, whenever you record a video within Facebook, the app only records HD videos and even after compression, the video looks pretty good. The videos shot will be uploaded in 720p format. As a direct result, two things change: the size of the video increases and that means more data usage every time you shoot and upload videos via the Facebook app. And this doesn’t apply when you upload videos to Facebook from your iPhone Camera roll. They’re obviously of the 720p or larger format (depending on the iPhone you use) and therefore, they’re HD by default. This setting found within Facebook applies only to videos recorded via the Facebook app. Do share your feedback with us in the comment below. You would also like to take a peek at these posts:
